squash updates

Dear Members
LIGHTS
We are having all the lights on both courts replaced with new tubes and having some other electrical works completed on Monday 2nd October and Tuesday 3rd October. The courts will be closed from 08.00 on the Monday until 16.00 on the Tuesday.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS
The squash club make payments to Redditch Cricket Hockey and Rugby Club for provision of changing room, showers, club house and other common facilities. Traditionally this has been in the form of a levy, but for the last two years it has been paid via a membership scheme. Squash members were able to obtain a membership card from the Club House, which also gave a discount on bar prices.
From the 1st October the levy system is being reintroduced. Current membership cards will only be valid up to 30th September. Any funds pre-loaded on to cards will still be useable.
Members can purchase a bar card that will give a discount on bar purchases. The cost is £40.00 per year.

FLOORS
The court floors cost a few thousand pounds every few years to be cleaned and re-marked. Thank you to all members who have followed our request not to wear court shoes from the car park.
By changing in the club it helps reduce dust and scratches on the floors.
Also please do not take drinks, especially coloured drinks, on to court.

LEAGUES
Internal Leagues thanks to Tim for organizing the leagues. It is the best way for new members to get games, so if you are in a league please try to play all the games.

COACHING
Junior coaching - this is free to children – and grandchildren - of members.

BOOKING
Just a reminder not to book successive courts in peak time between 17.20 and 21.20

Many thanks to all members who give up their time to help run the club.
But we do need a few more members to become part of our committee, and we do need someone to be club secretary. There are 6 committee meetings a year. Please let me know if you are interested, or would like to know more about the job.
