Important Update on Court Booking Rules

Dear Members,

We hope you're enjoying your squash at the club!

We're writing to address recent feedback regarding court availability during our peak hours. As the club continues to thrive, demand for courts is higher than ever, and we want to ensure fair access for everyone.

Clarifying Court Priority and Scheduled Activities

First, we want to clarify the policy regarding court usage and priority for scheduled sessions:

  1. 1-to-1 Coaching Sessions: These sessions are a vital service the club provides and are fundamental to member development. In line with standard practice across most squash clubs, these pre-scheduled coaching sessions must take priority on their designated court, however we always ensure at least one court remains available for general member booking during these times.
  2. Club Activities: At certain times, both courts may be utilized for essential community and development sessions, including Team Training/Matches, Junior/Adult Group Coaching, and Club Nights. We warmly invite and encourage all members to participate in these events if they wish!

Addressing Consecutive Bookings

We understand that it can be frustrating when you want to play but courts are fully booked. We have identified that certain periods of limited availability are being caused by members making consecutive, back-to-back bookings during peak hours. This practice limits the number of unique members who can get on court during the busiest times.

To address this and maximize fairness for all, we are implementing a change to the booking system:

Effective immediately, the booking system will prevent members from booking two consecutive courts during peak hours.

This small change will help spread court access more widely across the membership.

Our Commitment

We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to improve the system. We are also actively exploring other long-term options to enhance court access and will keep you informed of any further developments.

Your cooperation helps us maintain a vibrant and equitable club environment for all. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

See you on court!

Kind regards,

Kingfisher Squash Club committee
