Committee Update

I regret to inform you all that John Walker has sadly had a stroke and is unable to attend to his usual duties at the club. The good news is John is now home and making a good recovery, however the bad news is that John’s speech is very limited for the time being. Therefore, the responsibilities of the club will now be shared by the Kingfisher squash club committee.

Club News

After playing your game, please turn down the heating to 18 degrees to help reduce the amount of energy the club uses. If this continues then we will have no other option but to increase the monthly members fees to account for the increased energy costs.

The committee are aware that the heater flutes are leaking onto the courts when the heating is turned on and we are planning to investigate the issue in the coming weeks, so please be patient while we investigate and find a solution.

Adult Squash News

The Kingfisher Squash Club teams had a strong season last year where the first team won the Worcester Club Cup Plate for the first time, finished 2nd in division 2 of the Worcester leagues and the club captain finishing top of the player rankings remaining undefeated in 14 league/cup matches.

This year the first team have started strong in division 2 and are currently undefeated in the league in division 2. Sadly, we did not have enough interest in hosting a second team in the Worcester leagues this year. If you are interested in joining the team please reach out to admin@kingfishersquashclub.co.uk where we can direct your interest to the club captain.

If you would like to come down and watch some high-quality squash matches, the team play on a Thursday evening from 7.20pm and would really appreciate the support. The remaining home matches before the Christmas break are as follows:

14th November vs Evesham 1, League Match
18th November vs Nunery Wood 1, Cup Match Round 2
5th December vs Malvern Active 2, League Match

To gain more interest in the team, a new team ladder will be created on 1st January 2025 with all members allowed to join. More details will follow closer to the release date.

Junior Squash News

In September 2024, 5 of our junior squash players attended the Worcester Squash County Closed competition with the following results:

Rishi – Winner Boys under 9’s
Rohan – Winner Boys under 11’s
Layton – Winner Boys under 15’s
Freddie – Runner Up Boys under 15’s
William – Runner up Bous under 17’s

Please join us as a committee to congratulate the juniors in the overwhelming victory!

Adult and Junior Coaching

Our club coach, Jonathon Pitts, is now a Level 2 Professional Squash Coach, having graduated from the Level 2 England Squash course this summer. Jon offers the following to all members/non-members:

1-1 Coaching (Squash & Raquetball): 40 minutes for £15 members, £20 Non-members.
Adult Group Squash Coaching: Friday from 7.20pm - 8.30pm/late, £5 for members, £7 Non-Members
Junior Club Night: Thursday from 6pm – 7.20pm, for all age groups and abilities. Costs included in junior member fees, Non-member £5 per session.
Junior Coaching: Saturday, 12pm – 12.40pm (ages 5-7), 1pm –2pm (ages 8-12), 2pm – 3pm (ages 12 – 18). Costs included in junior member fees, Non-member £5 per session.
